I’m Dennis, Bregje’s partner. On this website I share what daily life looks like from my side, not as an expert, but as someone who lives alongside her and thinks along with her.
The biggest difference is often in the small things.
It might sound simple, but the biggest difference is often in the small things: noticing in time when a day is becoming too much, making room for that without it having to be a problem right away, and learning when helping is welcome and when it just gets in the way. That’s been a learning process for me, and sometimes it still is.
What I’ve learned most is that supporting someone isn’t about taking over, but about being there. Listening without immediately trying to fix things. Taking boundaries seriously, even when I don’t feel them myself.
I hope that what I share here feels recognizable to other partners who, like me, are just trying to get it right.
